Club Puebla vs Deportivo Toluca Prediction

Club Puebla
Deportivo Toluca
Puebla will look to end an unwanted run of three successive defeats on Saturday, when they host second-placed Toluca.
After narrow losses against Tigres, Pachuca and Club Tijuana, there’s work for Juan Maximo Reynoso to do with his squad. They’ll be without goalkeeper Nicolas Vikonis and midfielder Alan Acosta after both were sent off late in Monday’s latest 1-0 loss.
In a tough ask this weekend, can they return to winning ways here? Read my match preview, for the correct score predictions and best betting tips ahead of this fixture.
Puebla vs Toluca Betting Tips
After a frustrating 2-1 away defeat by ten-man Mazatlan on August 8, Toluca have won three successive league games.
They had 18 shots (seven on target), missed two big chances and completed more passes (311, 85% success) and dribbles (4/8, 50%) that evening. Since then, they’ve scored six goals and recorded narrow victories against Atlas, Tigres UANL and CD Guadalajara.
They’re just a point adrift of Liga MX leaders Cruz Azul (13 pts) after six games and despite two defeats, have proven themselves as tough opposition for anyone. That’s why this weekend presents a tricky test for Puebla, who have a respectable H2H record (6 wins, 5 draws, 8 losses) against them.
It’s fair to say the hosts have struggled defensively in recent weeks – just one clean sheet in their last six matches. It’ll be interesting to see how they cope if Toluca’s top goalscorer Alexis Canelo (5) features on this occasion.
The 28-year-old Argentinian forward had scored or assisted in all but one of their league outings, but didn’t play in their recent 1-0 win over Guadalajara. Perhaps if he did, the scoreline would have been more convincing in their favour.
The hosts’ red card suspensions mean squad rotation is likely for Puebla, with second-choice goalkeeper Jesus Rodriguez and Daniel Aguilar expected to start.
Puebla vs Toluca Correct Score Predictions
As mentioned, Puebla will not be at full strength this weekend after a manic ending to their 1-0 defeat on Monday. They want to improve such poor form of late, but I doubt that’ll begin against a Toluca side with contrasting spirits here.
