Barcelona Team news

Ernesto Valverde’s men have officially won the La Liga title. The Catalans have been in imperial form this season. They are unbeaten at home since November 2018 and will be eager to keep the record going on Wednesday.

Barca have underperformed in the Champions League over the past couple of years. One of the most successful teams in Spain now wants to conquer Europe and reclaim the throne from their fierce rivals Real Madrid. They are given a tough draw as Liverpool have same aspirations this season. With Leo Messi holding the reins at Camp Nou however, Barcelona are widely predicted to win the first leg. Blaugrana won seven straight matches at home. During that time they conceded only three goals. Their head-to-head record does not offer great assurances though, as hosts have yet to beat Reds in three attempts.

Barcelona vs Liverpool prediction and preview

Liverpool Team news

Jurgen Klopp has transformed the Anfield-based club. The Reds have become a team that is difficult to beat. They are still in contention for the Premier League title but will also focus on the Champions League.

They lost the final last season against Real Madrid and this is their chance now. The last time Liverpool travelled to Catalonia, they won 2-1 and will be eager to repeat the result. It will be easier said than done, however. Klopp will rest faith in his team’s great form which saw them win last five away matches. Furthermore, the Reds have yet to lose a game on the road wince January. With Mohamed Salah and Sadio Made in excellent shape, Reds fans have plenty of betting tips to hope for. Especially after the rampant 5-0 win over Huddersfield last time out.

Missing Players

The hosts will have a full crop of players to choose from. Sergio Busquets should reclaim his spot in the midfield from Arthur, while Leo Messi will start in front of Philippe Coutinho. Another former LFC player Luis Suarez will, however, be in the team from the off.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back to full fitness and will be in contention for the match. Joe Gomez is also fully fit which gives Jurgen Klopp more options at the back in an effort to stop Leo Messi. Roberto Firmino should be ready to take his place in the team as well.
