Crystal Palace

Having begun the new Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Southampton, Crystal Palace face relegated opposition in Bournemouth on Tuesday. Jason Tindall got his competitive start as a manager off to a winning start, after a late 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Can they end Palace's three-match winning streak against them by progressing into the third round of this season's EFL Cup? Read my match preview, for the correct score predictions and best betting tips ahead of this fixture.

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips

The Cherries needed a late winner from winger Arnaut Danjuma to sink a valiant Blackburn effort on the south Coast over the weekend. The 23-year-old, signed for £16.2m from Club Brugge last summer, finished with aplomb after skipping past a defender into the area and curling goalwards.

The Netherlands international was stifled by a lack of continuity in last season's top-flight and will be motivated to propel himself and teammates towards promotion next summer.

They get an early test of their quality against Palace, who have beaten them in each of their last three H2H meetings. Cup competitions usually mean recent form means little, but both will want to improve after disappointing defeats against lower opposition last term.

Palace crashed out on penalties against League Two side Colchester in R2, while League One side Burton Albion were 2-0 winners over Bournemouth in the following round.

Roy Hodgson is likely to take this fixture seriously as it's a genuine opportunity for silverware, while Bournemouth could rotate after a back-and-forth affair.

David Brooks and Phillip Billing were late substitutes and could start, while defender Chris Mepham limped off injured and won't feature. Can they progress into R3, continuing Palace's poor cup form in the process?

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Correct Score Predictions

As mentioned, Palace's recent H2H record isn't encouraging reading for Tuesday's hosts. I think it'll be a closely-contested clash between two sides with plenty to gain from a deep EFL Cup run but the visitors are stronger on paper and should prevail.
