After a five-year Premier League stint, Bournemouth make their Championship return and will be greeted by a mid-table side in Blackburn Rovers this weekend.

Although more outgoings are expected between now and October, the Cherries want a top-flight return immediately ala Fulham. They were sent down on the final day, despite a 3-1 away win over Everton, and have undergone significant changes since mid-July.

Jason Tindall makes his competitive debut as head coach, while multiple key players have departed, including Nathan Aké (Manchester City), Aaron Ramsdale (Sheffield United) and Callum Wilson (Newcastle). AFC Bournemouth vs Blackburn Rovers Betting Tips

I purposely omitted Ryan Fraser out of the departing key men for Bournemouth since their Premier League relegation was confirmed. The 26-year-old Scotland international has joined Newcastle alongside Wilson, albeit on a free transfer, after refusing to sign a short-term extension to his existing deal on the south Coast.

Although he has no regrets about choosing himself over the team, he also admitted his absence played a massive part in their relegation to the second-tier. Words like those must be a motivational tool.

Players like young English trio Chris Mepham, Lewis Cook and Dominic Solanke may feature in different positions but can easily be playing top-flight football. It's high time they prove that though, with their performances here.

Blackburn – who held Leicester to a 1-1 draw during the international break – must be mindful of what's in store.

They're travelling to face a fired up Bournemouth side who don't want an extended stay in this division, so want to make a statement. It means players like Lewis Holtby and Adam Armstrong – their top goalscorer last term – need to deliver more consistently, starting here.

AFC Bournemouth vs Blackburn Rovers Correct Score Predictions

Blackburn are a tough opening fixture but Bournemouth must start as they mean to go on, in an arduous league that doesn't get any easier as time passes. I'm expecting a hard-fought but important Bournemouth win.
