In anticipation of EURO 2016

Probably one of the most exciting sporting events of the year is EURO 2016 in France. The best European 24 teams , arranged in 6 groups will test their strength and we expect to see exciting matches. Euro 2016 will kick off at the Stade de France on 10th of June and for a month we will enjoy in great football.

The host of the championships, France, are in the Group A with the national teams of Romania, Switzerland and Albania. Certainly, France are the favorite for the top spot in this group but it does not mean they will have an easy job. Albania are the greatest surprise from the qualifiers and the outsider who comes to the EURO with big ambitions.

Uncertain outcome is expected in Group B where they are representations of Wales, Slovakia, England and Russia. This group is quite balanced and a real battle is expected for qualifications for the next round. Realistically speaking, each of the four national teams can win the first place in Group B, but greatest expectations are from England. Slovakia and Wales are pleasant surprises and they showed good physical form in qualifications, while Russia plays standardly strong football in defense line and that will be their main objective at the start of the championship in France.

In Group C is Germany, who are one of the pretenders to win the championship. Germany in the championship comes with a rejuvenated selection without experienced players. which should not affect to their performance at least in the Group stage in which are Ukraine, Poland and Northern Ireland.

Group D is a group where we expect very interesting matches. Spain which is defending the trophy from the last championship is in this group with Turkey, Croatia and Czech Republic. The team from Spain is expected to be on the first place in this group, but Croatia can disrupt their plans. Croatia has a very good team that consists of players who play in the best European clubs. Turkey are the team that plays fantastic football lately and their players are currently in a great form.

Very interesting situation is in Group E where there are representations of Belgium, Italy, Sweden and Ireland. Perhaps the least chances for the next round in this group have the Irish, while the three remaining representation are contenders for the first position in the group. Belgium has very talented players and our opinion is that they will placed among top two of the group after the group stage.

Perhaps one of the weakest but also the most uniform groups is Group F in which are: Austria, Hungary, Iceland and Portugal. Hardly that any of these representations can achieve great success in such a prestigious competition, but certainly they come to the championship with great ambitions. Iceland are one of the biggest surprises in EURO 2016 Qualifiers and must have picked up during qualifying a large number of fans all over Europe. Portugal are the favorite for the first place in the group and will most likely decide on that position in a direct duel with Austria.

By the bookies the biggest candidates for the title of European champion are the host France, world champions Germany and the defending champion Spain. Four years ago Spain played much better football and the main proof of that is the fact that they conceded only one goal in the whole EURO 2012. Belgium, Italy, Portugal and Croatia are definitely teams who can do a lot in this championship and we definitely expect interesting and uncertain matches.
